Bought? As in someone purchased them? If so then who?
"What sick, barbaric bastards.
It's one thing to use terrorism to make a political statement, but the wanton mutilation and suffering of innocents? How does that forward your political goals? When done in the name of religion, how does that earn you brownie points with God?
Fuck religious extremism. And especially fuck the "religion of peace." "

Ok while following the link to that other forum, every page got a popup add for chevy trucks. Very annoying! For those that don't want to follow the link the answer is a Canadian based company bought all those forums.
Helen Keller called it. Give that man a fucking cookie.

They also bought the Colt Forum.

Sorry smells to me. Smells like either an antigun group or maybe even our own gov't collecting data......
I hope this one doesn't get sold. We should be making it private as well so people without accounts can't read our rantings. Or at least the general discussion part...

Try and watch a you tube video without annoying pop ups. I finally gave up.

It is odd, that many dozens of forums were recently purchased, were bought from Forum Foundry, at least that's what it looks like. The guy from VS said they had purchased all the forums from a single source.
A few mouse clicks and info pours forth. I found that this sort of thing has been going on for quite a while, years to be exact. Below is a link to a thread, begins on page 5, but one can go forward or back to get more info. It's pretty interesting.
I think it gives some insight.
Someone please modify the ambiguous Subject name of this thread to reflect the contents of the conversation.
This is how it begins: "This has been an interesting read. I came on as an off topic moderator in early 2007 to an auto forum that bought out by Forum Foundry just a few months later. Sometime in 2008, I can't really remember when exactly, we became property of AutoForums, then to AutoGuide, Verticalscope, etc.
I have to say that Forum Foundry was the worst organization to work with ever. The principals in that venture were total idiots. In fact, we commonly referred to them as Larry, Curly, and Moe in the mods forum. The sight languished without any vision or guidance during that time and traffic was abysmal."

Oh, and yes, install Ad Blocker. The defaults work just fine.

On all the forums that were sold, many had members that paid, complained about the take over, but those forums, it seems, were all owned by a single entity.
Some private owners were approached to sell. They could take the money or not.
Since VS owns so many, what happens to them (the forums) if some turn out to be non-profitable?
