Can't figure out this failure to fire in my Hungarian PA63.

I did a Wolf spring upgrade kit to the whole pistol a few years ago and now it's starting to act weird . Every other shot is not igniting the primers. My hammer spring I believe is 9lbs. My firing pin seems visually ok. Kinda stumped on this one. I tried Sellior and Bellot and JHP ammo with FTFire. It was fine shooting this ammo but something's going on with the pistol now.

If it is currently having soft primer strikes with ammunition that it once functioned with, I can only imagine that springs have weakened, unless somehow your firing pin got shorter.

Do they get shorter or just snap?

IMO those are weak firing pin strikes. They do have a hammer right if I'm remembering the model correctly. You'd have to have a weak hammer strike to the firing pin. Improper heat treat will over time have the spring weaken.

Yeah I was thinking that also if the primers were too hard but I have all my original springs and I just installed the factory hammer spring and man I tell ya it takes alot of effort to get that trigger to pull LOL. Its like a 20 lbs pull. Ill shoot the gun this weekend to try it out

Well turns out it was the 9lbs hammer spring, ordered a 11lbs spring and the pistol is operating fine now .I shot 50 rounds of 9x18 with 0 problems down range. Guess that 9lbs spring worn out .I installed it back in 2008 and it was flawless till about a week ago .

Sort of sad that a spring would only last for 8 years. I would have expected a much longer lifespan.
