Slaves did contribute to the building of the house (at that time called "the Executive Mansion") but they were slaves owned by subcontractors who did a lot of the manual labor for landscaping and foundation. MOST of the people who worked on the building were skilled craftsmen who comprised, Irish, English, Scottish, German and Freed Black Men. So Slave did contribute but totally not like the entire house was built by slaves.Lol.
