Russian troops massing 50 miles from Alaska...

This according to Drudge. Is that a normal exercise? Maybe they want to defect. That's probably it.

During cold war days it was normal for the Soviets to send troops or aircraft near our boarders to see what our response was, where any troops or aircraft came from and in what numbers. We did the same to provoke responses for them for the same reason, to see their response to our movement.

Second Russkie from the left: What weapon is he holding? It looks like a machine pistol of some sort.

This is an old story and unless this "massing" continues and amounts to something substantial, I wouldn't be worried...

I had never heard of that PP-200 MP until now. It looks very Buck Rogers-like.....

I was reading about how they are prepping a type of plane to fly at some crazy altitude with two 6000 kb cruise missles. Let me see if I can find and post a link. Sometimes I can.

This is what happens when you stick ballistic missile systems on the border of your most powerful rivals while stirring unrest in their ex-satellites.

It was a joke..... I voted for Palin hoping MCcain would croak in his first day.... Speaking of which WTF is wrong with Arizona voters? Coulda elected Ward a true conservative, instead they re-elect democrat McCain....
She actually said you can see Russia from Alaska so it was close enough.

They're reusing old bases from Soviet times. Being only 50 miles from AK it kinda explains all the Russian marked trash that is often found along the AK coastline, but I bet they put spets into AK often, who just might leave overt evidence of their visit.
