    Question What's your oddest caliber?

Just wondering if anyone has anything out of the ordinary and if so do you have a firearm to go with it?

The least mainstream I have as far as ammo only are some .41 Short aka .41 rimfire I picked up in a box of mixed ammo at an auction. I think the little O/U derringer is the only thing that used it that might still be available but I've never run across one.

I've also got some steel cased .45 ACP from WWII. Not really unique or odd I guess but you don't see it all that often. All my other stuff is pretty common.

Almost forgot. I do have some Russian 7N1 sniper ammo (don't see it much any more) that I keep meaning to test in my M39 but haven't found the time. Also have some of the old 8x50R Lebel ammo with the bronze bullets. I've got my Berthier 07/15 mile. 16 I can try it in but I doubt it will fire. The older stuff didn't seem to have primers that held up over time. Probably due to poor storage over the last 100 years.

I don't have any ammo that I don't have a firearm for. So, I guess the oddest calibers I have (not really that odd, just hard to find sometimes) are 8 mm. and .303 British. Usually, I have to order these online as stores around here don't carry them anymore.

Not really ammo, but black powder (any granulation) is a non-item in local stores. The only thing I can get, locally, is Pyrodex loose and Pyrodex pellets.

Not really that peculiar, but my CCW is a Makarov in 9x18. Got a lot of funny looks and snickers at Front Sight last April, but once I got to running that little beast they were pretty impressed.

The oddest calliber I have is .22 lr. I can't find ammo for it at all of the places that sell ammo and when I do the seller wants an arm and a leg. I think it is an obsolete cartridge.

I actually found some in the local WalMart for the first time in 3.5 years about a week ago. It is still uncommon, but not like it was.

I was going to say 9mm Mak but someone already did. That means I have to go with .32 WSP. Not very uncommon, but it is what I have.

I have inherited an old S&W in .32-20 but trying to find this mild shooting ammo is worse than .22LR.

Recently, somebody showed me what the value of this gun is and I've decided I don't need the ammo anymore!

I have a bunch of Swiss rounds that predate the GP-11 round. They have a round nose paper patched bullet. I also have a stripper clip of a plastic short range round for the Schmidt Ruben K31 rifles. I posted photos of them back on the old original Gunsnet. No existing photos of them that I know of. Would have to dig them out and take some new photos.

My 'oddest' caliber is something I will NEVER SHOOT. I have three rounds (total) for my H&H 1902 Double rifle chambered for .600 Nitro Express. The rifle itself would be worth a small fortune if the rifle weren't so fucked up. But that's the rarest caliber I own and one of the rarest guns. Safe queen / wall hanger. I wouldn't trust it to fire it though.

Tank_Monkey reminded me that the oddest caliber I own is a 4 gauge muzzle loading rifle. It's an elephant gun that came from the Belgian Congo, before they became independent. I'm guessing it came over here in the 1950's. I have yet to order a round ball mold for it from Dixie, but will do so once I get a little more money saved up. It's in great condition and since it was made in the late 1940's, it's still a shooter.

    9mm Makarov and .44 Special.

I do have an old cartridge with a Nazi head stamp. I honestly don't know what it is though.

It has these marks a VIII, 1938 and an eagle standing on a globe...

    I think it's an 8x56R cartridge.
