This list represents (all and all) an excellent start. I am glad to see that at least two sacred cows are on this list, i.e., Amtrac and Public Broadcasting. On the other had I am not against some of the DC subsidies since DC has to provide services to support a large Federal presence, yet DC cannot tax the Federal Government, e.g., property tax, commuter tax, etc. The Federal offices in DC would have a hard time operating without the Metro and even with subsidies the Metro is in serous trouble.

What I really want to see is an end to the Billions given to Israel and Egypt every year. Does the U.S. taxpayer really need to pay these two countries not to fight each other?

Another needed cut would be to stop subsidizing babies born to baby-moms who just pop kids out to get gov't checks and services coming in.

The disturbing thing to me is the "great society" has become multi-generational. It would be cheaper to pay more up front and incentivize the baby-moms to get tubal ligations and make it a criminal offense if the tubal ligation was reversed.

That's a helluva lot of pork, right there. It never ceases to amaze me how the .gov squanders our tax $$$ for every special interest under the sun.

Now that you've brought it up, isn't it a law that Public Broadcasting Networks are not allowed to advertise on their channels as long as they receive Federal money? If so, they've been breaking that law for years and years. Every program they provide is sponsored by advertisers.

I don't know about the legal particulars with respect to PBS advertising, but it seems like one either walks on two legs or four legs so to speak. Back in the days of broadcast TV (with people only having access to 4-5 stations) I think the argument for public broadcast might of had some merit -- but now with hundreds of cable channels and the ability for anyone to put out Internet content, PBS is simply a scam.

I can see ONE illegitimate child, anyone can make a mistake, but after one... Tubal ligation, reversible after having paid income taxes for 3 years, and proof of the identity of the sperm donor and his ability to support a child.
