Actually, Komarov didn't burn up on entry. He ran low on reaction control propellant and had problems keeping his spacecraft aligned properly for re-entry.
So as a last resort, he used the rest of his RCS propellant to impart a spin to his spacecraft in order to stabilize it. This worked, he re-entered safely.
The problem was that the spin persisted and when his drogue and main chutes deployed, the spin twisted up the lines and the chutes never de-reefed properly.
As a result of having virtually no parachutes, he impacted the ground at about 200 mph. He died instantly, the spacecraft broke apart, remaining propellants caught fire and burned his body to a crisp and the result is in the photo.
Very sad.
At least there's a medal on the moon in his honor, left there by Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin.
