Did anybody check out any of the New Years shows?

Every one of them featured rap/r and b type acts with dancers and lip syncing. It's enough to make you think music has died.

Yeah, they aren't much nowadays. Rap isn't music and most have to lip sync, otherwise, they tend to forget the lyrics like Mariah Carey did.

Overall, it's better to just turn on a CD player, or go to youtube, and listen to, or watch, real music being performed.

You know today's music is bad when you scroll and scroll and scroll through the radio stations and simply settle on a station playing older music. Then once you find some good music it happens to be the tail-end of the song and you hear commercials for 10 minutes. One of the country stations here plays nothing but classic country every Sunday for three hours and it's always refreshing. I'm only in my 30s. I shudder to think about what music will sound like when I'm retirement age.

Back in the 80's, when the new wave came in, my buddy said one day concerts will be prerecorded and the singers will simply lip sync. I told him he was crazy and turned up the Nuge. Turns out, my buddy was a prophet. I'm glad I still have Zappa, old VH, etc...

I used to be a strict top 40s guy. Hated country with a passion.

For the past 8 years its almost completely turned around. Top 40 is all about clubbing and "gettin' wit someone" and counrty is all about having fun with friends in a non-street attitude sort of way.

For real country, 650 AM is the ticket. They play old and new plus the Opry. One minute you hear Alan Jackson, the next minute Farron Young or Grampa Jones.

And 650 is a clear channel frequency, so they don't turn down their power at night.

Mariah's reps say she was "set up to fail" during her NYE's performance. They're blaming the production crew for messing up her ear mike.

This is what happens when the artist doesn't really know her own work (like many modern-day singers...).

I guess it really boils down to talent.
