Sorry, but I call this a bad shoot.Pettersen told the dispatcher he fired his handgun at a gray car that was leaving his property after an attempted burglary.
The guy was not in fear for his life as the perps were driving away. He had no moral (or legal) right to shoot at them.
If they were IN or ON his property and the guy felt threatened or in danger, yeah then shoot. But not when they are fleeing.
Besides, shooting at a car driving away... what if he missed and a round went into someone's house (where Murphy's law GUARANTEES that a toddler would be in the path of the bullet)?
