THAT would be my dream job. Cappin' pirates with no rules of engagement and no paperwork.

    They really need flamethrowers.

It's about time they met with some resistance.

Would be a little different at night. Wonder if their radar can pick up those small boats? They look like they might be wooden.

I was thinking how effective just 5.56 AR rifles in semiauto were at repelling these vermin. I think they need some AR10 rifles to really put holes in their boats. Let's see how well they can swim.

I don't shoot into water much but at the 30 second mark when they initially open fire those splashes around the boat look awfully large for 5.56. If you think that's probably a 30' boat I wouldn't expect that large of a splash. Also wonder if they were intentionally missing their mark?

Seemed effective. There also didn't seem to be return fire? A PKM and/or RPG coming back would have changed the dynamic a lot.

Yes, at night it would have been much harder, though I think they have illumination and/or NVG.

There was a clip on a show about high tech military-style weapons being used on private ships. The clip was of a large, private yacht that had its own LRAD device and they showed how they used it to repel some Somali pirates with those high intensity sound waves.

I had not noticed that! I guess it was the guy next to him that was actually getting rounds near the target.

I bet they only have a navigation type surface radar on that type of ship and it would not pick up an all wooden boat.

I would expect that the pirates on that little launch were trying not to fall out of the boat. Those little boats in the open ocean bounce a lot (I have ridden in some going on liberty from ships I have been on, and I assure you that you hold on tightly!). It is hard to shoot when you are trying not to fall out of the boat.

Marine radar can pick up those boats.

I dont want to be that guy, but there seems to be a lot of ammo being wasted into the water in both of these videos.
