    Question Opinions sought

Getting the 1911 bug again after 25+ years, (been that long since I bought my first and only) and was looking at, among other models, a 9x19 and a .22lr.

For the 9x19 I'm considering a RIA, either the GI or the tactical.

    Or a Taurus

    For the .22lr I've considering a GSG

    or a Chiappa Tactical

Any thoughts on any of these models? TIA

Get the Taurus ! You won't be disappointed. Well balanced gun and a tack driver. And the bells and whistles are already included.

    Thumbs up

I was kind of leaning towards the Taurus. It's only about $25 more than the RIA Tactical. From what I've heard the RIA only comes with one mag where the Taurus comes with two (about $40 for a mag) and most guys replace the RIA stocks as they find them two slick. Thanks for the input.

I can recommend the Taurus .45 (got thread of it after being gunkoted) because I got one of their first ones when they first came out and it has run flawlessly....well only issue it had was with one of the factory mags and a ftf. Got wilson combat and chip mccormick mags at it runs like a champ with rnl, fmj, and hp. FYI, i've been reading good things about RIA too.

I haven't shot a 9mm 1911 to recommend one. For the .22 I'd go with the GSG due to much better reviews and, what, like 80%+ parts interchangability with .45s.

Can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are the gift of God? Just read an article about a new .22lr offering from Browning.

Don't have the article in front of me but IIRC this pistol is a scaled down version of the standard 1911A1 and 1911A1 Compact. Something like 15% smaller scale. Not sure it that's a good thing or not? Would really like to be able to handle one and see how it feels.
