Pentagon Unveils Plan For "Pre-Emptive Strike" On North Korea
The attack would consist of B-1 Lancer heavy bombers located on Andersen Air Force Base in Guam, a senior acting and retired military officials told NBC news.

“Of all the military options … [President Donald Trump] could consider, this would be one of the two or three that would at least have the possibility of not escalating the situation,” retired Admiral James Stavridis, former Supreme Allied Commander Europe and an NBC News analyst, said.

    Why the B-1?

Military sources told NBC News that the internal justification for centering a strike on the B-1 is both practical and intricate. The B-1 has the largest internal payload of any current bomber in the U.S. arsenal. A pair of bombers can carry a mix of weapons in three separate bomb bays — as many as 168 500-pound bombs — or more likely, according to military sources, the new Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile — Extended Range (JASSM-ER), a highly accurate missile with a range of 500 nautical miles, allowing the missile to be fired from well outside North Korean territory.

Yes let them read your playbook. I suspect it'll be either B2s or slcm from subs off the nk coast. Or maybe a handful of those Rods of God thingies hurled from orbit. This is getting boring even for me.

So now they are leaking to our enemy our plans for attack? Heads should roll here until leaks stop.

And even if a North Korean ICBM landed in the USA without nuclear detonation, how many people who are against Trump standing tall would be willing to let that missile drop in their backyard?

Walk loud and carry a big stick worked for Reagan, just look at the USSR. What is wrong with finally having a president who puts USA first after 8 years of "I'm sorry"?

What I thought was interesting today was the info about obama knowing about the
NK nukes in 2013. I would love to see one drop in the S.F. Bay. Not a nuke but one like you described.

Do you think UN will launch at Guam and target the missiles in international
    waters?
Well he can't "lose face" can he?

I think this whole situation is nothing more than China using NK to "test" the resolve of the US, and IF we do strike against them, to see how effective our military really is. After all, with us attacking NK, China has nothing to lose and a lot to gain (in information).

NK is little more than a testing ground for our military effectiveness.

This would explain why China "seems" to have little effect on NK's behavior. They want this to escalate into a military conflict....and Kim Small Dong seems happy to oblige.

The widely read state-run Global Times, published by the ruling Communist Party's official People's Daily, wrote in an editorial that Beijing is not able to persuade either Washington or Pyongyang to back down.

"It needs to make clear its stance to all sides and make them understand that when their actions jeopardize China's interests, China will respond with a firm hand," said the paper, which does not represent government policy.

"China should also make clear that if North Korea launches missiles that threaten U.S. soil first and the U.S. retaliates, China will stay neutral," it added.

"If the U.S. and South Korea carry out strikes and try to overthrow the North Korean regime and change the political pattern of the Korean Peninsula, China will prevent them from doing so."

I bet either way, nk hits us or allies first, or Trump hits nk first, China moves on Taiwan.

Why in God's Name would anyone release military PLANS? Perhaps so the enemy can prepare?

People are paid to sit around and go what if this and what if that? No biggie
as we have plans (probably many scenarios) to do this to anyone.

Giving away plans is when you tell ISIS we will leave Mosul in 4 months.

    Dear China,

If you don't stand behind or beside the USA in this mess, just think of what life would be like if Apple moved back to the USA? If General Motors left China? If ... fill in your favorite employer!

This is the statement that Trump needs to tell his companies and the others that employ Chinese workers. I wonder how many unemployed Chinese it would take before they stood up to their own government?

One thing to keep in mind is that almost every company in China is owned or controlled by the pla, ie the Chicom army. They don't have 4 or 40 int agencies - they have 4 million as pretty much every company is tasked intelligence targets that must be obtained. This is why Trump is on fire about forced tech transfers to China as well as other trade practices that place China at a huge advantage over the US.

Yep. China has their own ambitions in the region and would prefer to keep the US distracted by the use of their traditional junkyard dog.

North Korea Threatens "Merciless Strike" As US-South Korea Wargames Begin
The messages in Rodong Sinmun, the official government newspaper, come a day before the US starts the Ulchi Freedom Guardian military exercises with South Korea.

"The Trump group's declaration of the reckless nuclear war exercises against the DPRK ... is a reckless behavior driving the situation into the uncontrollable phase of a nuclear war," Rodong Sinmun said, using the acronym for Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the nation's official name.

It described North Korea as the "strongest possessor" of intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of striking the US mainland from anywhere.

"The Korean People's Army is keeping a high alert, fully ready to contain the enemies. It will take resolute steps the moment even a slight sign of the preventive war is spotted," it said.

China has urged both Washington and Pyongyang to tone down the rhetoric, warning via the government's mouthpiece Global Times...

"The drill will definitely provoke Pyongyang more, and Pyongyang is expected to make a more radical response," it said in an editorial.

"If South Korea really wants no war on the Korean Peninsula, it should try to stop this military exercise."

Kim's threats come after both US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Secretary of Defense James Mattis said last week that the US was keeping military options on the table in dealing with North Korea.

    N. Korea releases dam water without prior notice
YEONCHEON, South Korea, Aug. 21 (Yonhap) -- North Korea released water from a border dam without giving prior notice to South Korea on Monday, causing the water levels of a cross-border river downstream to rise dangerously, officials said.

I'm sure this has nothing to do with the huge war game that started today involving US and SK troops.

Treasury Slaps Sanctions On China, Russia Entities And Individuals Over North Korea
In a move that is certain to infuriate China further and result in another deterioration in diplomatic relations between Washington and Beijing, moments ago the United States slapped both Chinese and Russian entities and individuals with new sanctions in the Trump administration's escalating attempts to pressure North Korea to relent and stop its nuclear program and occasional missile launches.
