nobody knows who it was yet.
"I didn't even expect him to come up here, thinking it was that sweet. Thinking it's that candy land like that," White said. "He wanted to pickpocket everybody. But people out here, they weren't going for none of that."

Trending on Twitter now... the white middle-aged driver told police he was "afraid" of left-wing protesters threatening his car. He was supposedly fleeing for his life.

Sounds like a good excuse, but the various video clips clearly show deserted streets before he rammed the crowd and people went flying. Hard to believe it wasn't intentional.

19 wounded, at least one dead. Sounds to me like he's going to have some 'splainin to do in front of a local judge...

    The Washington Post has confirmed:

A 32-year-old woman was killed, according to police, who said they were investigating the crash as a criminal homicide. The driver of the Challenger was taken into custody and charges were pending, said Al Thomas, the Charlottesville police chief.

The car is registered to 20-year-old James Alex Fields of Ohio, according to vehicle registration records reviewed by The Washington Post. Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail Superintendent Martin Kumer told The Post that a man with the same name and age was booked Saturday on suspicion of second-degree murder, malicious wounding, failure to stop for an accident involving a death, and hit and run. Kumer said Fields is being held without bail.

Records show Fields last lived in Maumee, Ohio, about 15 miles southwest of Toledo.

Oh, I'm sure he is a nutjob.

Let's just hope we aren't going to be seeing photos leaking of him wearing a "Make America Great Again" cap pretty soon...

well, honestly anyone that would do something like that has to be mentally ill.

He also has the Richard Spencer haircut... The media are going to have a time with this. I hope the police determine it to be accidental because antifa was attacking his car or something. The ensuing chaos would be epic.

He is being charged with Second degree murder... Doesn't look like terrorism as the media is suggesting. But why second degree? Think he was drunk or something? Wouldn't drunk driving be a second degree murder charge or would it be manslaughter?

Yes, I agree. Mental illness comes in all flavors. "Crazy" has no political ideology. Some people are just nuts. Political affiliation is usually just incidental, not the driving factor.

He had better watch himself in jail though. Even good ol' Dylann was kept in "protective custody", but that didn't stop a big black inmate "accidentally" being let out of his cell to wail on him in the showers...

    Second degree = not premeditated.

In other words, he may have only been aiming to scare or maim those in the crowd, not actually kill them. But still got charged with murder because someone died and he plowed into the crowd intentionally.
