Thumbs up 1944 is finally on Video here.

For several Months now, I had seen parts of the Movie on youtube. Perhaps you saw the most well known Scene reminding you of Cross of Iron, where the Company of Russian T-34 Tanks attack the SS entrenched in Fox Holes. This Film from Estonia, deals with the 1944 Battle of Tannenberg Line on the Eastern Front. Estonia is trapped between the Fight with the Red Army and the Out numbered, Waffen SS, which has half of its Infantry made up of Local Estonian Recruits. Got it from Walmart, was surprised to see it, on Amazon, it was either Blue Ray, Not Region 1 or in Estonian or some other language. This Movie came out last Year I think. The T-34s look great, but as we know, they are still every where in the World. Paul

Tannenberg has huge significance for Russia and Germany both as Russia more or less lost ww1 here to Germany and Austria. The Russians didn't display any comsec in their wireless use and gave away their order of battle and orders in general to Austrian and German listening posts. For that, the Russians lost the war. This time around they were motivated to avenge their defeat as well as displaying effective comsec down to very low levels of command.
"And how we burned in the camps later thinking, what would things have been like, if every security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain, whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family?"

I wonder where the Estonians would have got so many STG.44's? You would think the main Waffen SS would have got them first.
