If - IF I'm lucky, I get about 1 mbps from my AT&T DSL.
There IS an option, but I'd have to switch to the company that is reported to have the WORST customer service rating in the country - CHARTER. And they want you to bundle internet, TV and phone to get the "best" (?!?) price.

Part of my problem is the distance from the "central office" to me, about 18,ooo ft. My mother, who lives just outside a small town south of here, got DSL almost a year before it was available here as she is closer to the CO (~12,ooo-13,ooo ft.). She now has Uverse and it is still unavailable here.
