Everyone okay? I didn't know we had servers in the storm region.

Power issues in data center. Server shut down to prevent damage. There is a thread from the gunsnet.net admin about 4 down from this one.

I've noticed that GN has been a bit slow the past week, but I don't know if it's Gunsnet or something else.

Remember, Internet speed is dictated by the slowest server in the link. When you connect to Gunsnet, you go through a bunch of intermediate links.

For example, I just did a "trace route" command on Gunsnet and got this:

traceroute to gunsnet.net (71.42.211.58), 30 hops max, 60 byte packets
    1 verizon (192.168.1.1) 1.276 ms 1.263 ms 1.257 ms

Notice the first few hops (from my computer to my ISP). They are fast... only a few milliseconds.

Then as we jump through NY, Chicago and Texas, the delays are as much as 60 or 70 milliseconds.

Finally, gunsnset itselt responds in 70-some milliseconds.

The point it, the time it takes for all those hops to complete adds up. Gunsnet could have a ZERO response time and if some link in the route was slow, Gunsnet would still be slow.

    Make sense?

I was thinking the mess Houston is in is causing net weather in the tx area to be as bad as the real weather.
"And how we burned in the camps later thinking, what would things have been like, if every security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain, whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family?"

Thanks. For the record, I was UNABLE to even see Gunsnet as soon as the storm arrived. Had NO IDEA if that was a factor. I'm on the West Coast and the weather is fine, so I was unable to figure out why the connection was always timing out. Out to Commiefornia, you couldn't connect to Gunsnet.

Again, I was being paranoid that the left wing tech giants were some how censoring Gunsnet, since they're all Libtards who run media, tech, the Internet, etc. and they're ALL doubling down on attacking anyone who is not a liberal. Good to see Gunsnet alive and well, for now.

Kinda like a UPS shipment from California to New York.

It goes through many different states along the way, and if at ANY point along the trip some kind of shipping delay occurs, it affects the final ship date to the customer.

    Get it now?

Seems the clock is off 35 or so minutes.

Earlier today, I tried several times over about 3 hours to get in using my "bookmark" link (http://www.gunsnet.net/forum.php). When that "timed out", I shortened it to (http://www.gunsnet.net) with no success.
    Tonight, I had no problems.

    Go figure.

Really? Are you saying that the system administrator doesn't know what an "NTP server" is?

I might not know what the SA knows but I do know how to tell time and the time was off.
And what is an NPT server by the way?

"NTP" is "Network Time Protocol". It's what most computers (home, servers, business, etc...) all use to synchronize the computer to correct time.
