Judging from the various NFL clubs' official statements, its being spun as a righteous act of civil disobedience.

Last summer there was a women's soccer or field hockey team and some players were starting to do this same thing.
Someone in charge simply didn't let ANY players on the field until the anthem was over. BOOM problem with disrespect solved, and everybody could focus on the game.

Heard on a local talk radio program this morning that the station will no longer carry any of the NFL's game coverage they used to broadcast, and the host was calling for an NFL jersey burning protest at the annual end of summer beach bonfire this year.
I've heard a lot of people say they're no longer going to buy any NFL products, nor are they going to watch any of the games.
On a side note, the NFL doesn't realize what they're doing with taking this stance. They think they can dictate to us their agenda, but fail to realize that they aren't providing a service we have to buy (like electricity, heating oil, gas, etc.). They are an entertainment venue, not a necessary service for our well-being. We can always turn them off and stop supporting them with our money.
From the sounds of it, people are starting to do just that.

They are not disrespecting the flag, they're disrespecting US.
It's we "normals" who they hate and this is a deliberate jab in the eye of us fools who pay all the bills.

However the farmer (a Clinton) just drives off to the next victim and claims to be perfectly clean.
What's going on with the NFL is just a natural progression for the Left.
Any time they are allowed into an organization they do what they do better then anything....Take it over from the inside, push out anyone who isn't a True Believer and one of them, then destroy the organization with their insane views.
That's what they did to the old Democrat party.
They were kept out of the party by the old time big city mayors and union bosses until McGovern "opened up the party to the people".
The Left poured in and started pushing the old line Democrats out and replacing them with True Believers.
The last of the old liners left was Joe Libermann.
One year he was the party candidate for Vice President, two years later they threw him out of the party.
Now all that's left are the Schumer's and Pelosi's. True Believers and hard core committed Leftists all.
Eventually they purge even the not-quite-enough True Believers, as they are doing in California. Those not sufficiently True Red are being purged and replaced with the hard Left.
The Left has infiltrated and taken over Academia, the Press, Hollywood, much of big business, politics, and is now moving into even sports.
This will not stop.
Already there's been BS in baseball, basketball, and all other sports are next.
An interesting fact about the Left is that they'll willingly allow a business to go broke and close before changing their methods.
Politics and ideology outweigh EVERYTHING.
And, since they're usually multi-millionairs, they're alright even if the business fails.
Most businesses who are in trouble usually attempt corrections to try to save it.
Only the Left will make "message" movies that fail at the box office and loose millions, or will allow a newspaper to shed readers and advertisers until they close.
The question is...what will the NFL owners do?
A few of them are Leftists, but most are not. They bought teams because they had money from other businesses and wanted to have the thrill of owning an NFL team.
When the sales of team memorabilia fall, when the stadiums are mostly empty, when the TV viewers stop watching, and when advertisers stop buying time and the money starts drying up, what will they do?
If they discipline the players the union (run by Leftists) will strike and the sports and main stream media will hammer them.
If they don't discipline the players the fans will stop buying the product.
Even astute businessmen often fail to notice dangers not obviously related to their business.
A canny team owner would have disciplined Kapernick as soon as he started his BS.
They might have been able to stop it before it got started, but no one in charge saw the danger and did anything.
Now the Leftist are beginning to dominate the NFL and I don't know what the owners can do about it.
Like Conservatives, the team owners have the players, the union, the sports press, the main stream press, Leftist politicians, and Leftists in general arrayed against them and they're going to be the bad guys with no way to fight back that won't make them look like Racists.
Most fans just want to kick back and watch a good game, not be preached to and charged with being a racist and the fault of all that ails the world.
Most just want a break in the constant Leftist assault in every other moment of the day.
When they can't get that break, many of them will just stop watching.
How many will determine the fate of the NFL.
This will likely be another textbook illustration on how the Left corrupt and destroy an organization.

and loved it but it gets old when they want to preach. But damn with all the games at 1, 4, 8:30p
