    Let's Here it for .380s

I know current conventional wisdom is to go with 9mm over .380s, but there are some cool .380s out there. Here are a couple I have.

First, a Beretta 85. This is a M9 cut down to .380. Lots of fun to shoot.

Next, a CZ-83 (actually I don't have a picture of my CZ-83 so this is my CZ-82 which is essentially the same thing, magazines are even interchangeable, except for a slight difference in the barrel). Again, a lot of fun to shoot, and both (the 82 and the 83) are very accurate.

I am looking at a Browning Black Label to add to my collection of mid-size .380s. It is a 1911 that is scaled down for the .380 round. It is about an 80% reduction in size from the .45 ACP to the .380 ACP. For example Instead of a 5" barrel it has about a 4" barrel. It still holds 8 rounds though.

Anyway, if anyone else has a .380, let's see it!

(Can one of the Mods fix my spelling/grammatical error in spelling Here vice Hear in the title?)

I don't own any .380's, but I wouldn't turn one down given the opportunity to get one. Some of the .380 rounds are nearly as powerful as standard 9 mm., so they are coming into their own as viable self defense rounds.

p.s. Do you mean the Black Label is 80% smaller than a standard 1911, or do you mean it's 20% smaller in size? I would think that an 80% reduction in size would put in the derringer size range.....

20% smaller, or there abouts. It is still a full size hand gun but it is smaller than a full size 1911. It is actually about the size of a Glock 19.

He served in North Africa and Italy. If I remember correctly is was handed over to him by a surrendering officer.

    Russian Makarov in .380

Currently the only .380 I have. Had a Mak in 9x18 but always thought it was a bit snappy love it in .380 though. Very smooth soft shooting pistol.

Got rid of the horrid adjustable sight it originally had for a more normal one and have carried it on a few occasions.
Where are we going and why are we in this handbasket???

I have a CZ 82 (9x18) and a CZ 83 (.380 ACP) and I have to agree the 9x18 is a little "snappier", or lack of a better term. I believe that I read that the 9x18 is slightly more powerful than the .380 ACP.

It would be cool to have that Mak in both 9x18 and .380.

Yeah 9x18 is generally said to be right in between the .380 and 9mm Luger power wise. It's definitely got a more noticeable kick than .380 when fired in the same type of pistol.

I had a Bulgarian Mak in 9x18 prior to this but didn't care for the "snappy" recoil. Loved the pistol though and when I came across the .380 I jumped on it. I wasn't disappointed, much more pleasant to shoot. I've gotten rid of lot of the old mil-surp types I had but this one is a keeper.

Like a lot of others I've gotten rid of I kinda miss the Bulgy-Mak but I've made an effort to weed out the ones I don't shoot much.

I would be sorely tempted though if I did see a matching Russian in 9x18 for a reasonable price.

Forty years ago, I bought a little Astra Constable in .380. I still have it too.
