Wink General Kelly Praises China's Communist System, Chinese state media responds in turn

The Chinese state publication Global Times praised White House Chief of Staff Gen. John Kelly in an article dated Saturday for stating in an interview that the repressive communist system “has apparently worked for the Chinese people.”

The article urges those who decry China for its rampant human rights abuses, violations of international law, and consistent belligerence against its neighbors to abandon a “Cold War mentality” against Beijing. The article’s title flatly urges that the “U.S. should erase the Cold War mentality with China.”

“Kelly’s comments that China is not an enemy of the U.S. and that China has ‘a system of government that has apparently worked for the Chinese people’ are true,” the Times asserts. “With interactions between China and the U.S., including those that involve bilateral trade, so huge, how could they be enemies? China can by no means be defined as a U.S. ‘enemy.'”

“China’s system of government fits the country,” the article asserts. “China’s economy has grown so fast and the national strength and people’s livelihood have improved spectacularly. How could China’s system not be fit for the country?”

Maybe he's just kissing Chicom ass to try to gain leverage against North Korea?

Last week, President Donald Trump made similarly complimentary remarks towards China, and in particular increasingly autocratic leader Xi Jinping. Trump even joked about Xi’s elevation to Mao Zedong status within the Chinese Communist Party at its congress last month, telling reporters, “Now some people might call him the king of China. But he’s called president. But we have a very good relationship and that’s a positive thing.”

Trump stated on Twitter that he had called Xi to congratulate him on having his name enshrined in the Communist Party constitution, calling it an “extraordinary elevation.”
I see El Presidente is beating the gong as well...

Kissing ass or stating the facts? I'm not sure the Chinese system of government today is the same as the original communist model it started out as. If you consider the amount of free market multi-millionaires in China today as well as the increased lifespan and fewer people living in poverty, saying the systems works for them seems pretty factual.

Indeed. China is a modern-day utopia. The future model of capitalism and a shining beacon of human rights and freedom of political dissent to all.

As you well know it's none of those things but it is better than it was a generation ago.

Yes, in all seriousness, living conditions have improved considerably. But the same can be said for people around the globe. Global poverty has decreased, lifespans have increased, and the few conflict hotspots aside, the human race has never been more at peace.

I just find it odd that the Trump Team is suddenly singing China's praises, considering all the hostile rhetoric on the campaign trail (re: currency manipulation, etc.)

Yeah just remember the "chinese" revolution. What the .gov learned is they are easier
to handle with food and a dream.

Their mobile murder vans increase the efficiency of the usual socialist regime mass murder industry by recovering assets from the victims, ie their internal organs. These badly needed organs are then sold on the global market. Venezuela could learn something here.

Remember, it takes some form of socialist government to industrialise mass murder.

We can't deal with NK without involving China, Russia and other countries in the region. Well, we could..............but that didn't work out as planned the last time.

Usually sufferers of paraphilic infantilism are proud of their condition. Kinda like being a liberal. Your mental flaws are there for the entire world to see, and you're damned proud of it. - tank_monkey

Well, I guess a good round of diplomacy does beat global thermonuclear war...

I will give Trump credit for improving Middle East relations as well. Even if he did "curtsy" to the Saudi King.

I hate reading this sort of thing. The Chinese sustem is shite. Otherwise, so many would not want to move here. There would not be suicide nets under factories. They wouldn't have toxic green skies. The general is getting senile. Or corrupt
