Seems that at least 20 dead with reports of higher numbers. I have seen one report of 27 with many more injured.

TV report said the killer reloaded several times. Sad to think that in Texas nobody in the church had a firearm or if they did was able to get it out.

Reports that the shooter is dead but I would bet it was self inflicted.

Part of the problem is that many churches have policies that ban weapons in church, in effect making then "gun free zones."

Too many people believe that their houses of worship are under God's protection, and that nothing bad could happen to them there.

Now Fox News is reporting, suggesting that churches should install metal detectors and keep a security guard (usher) at the entrance:

But let's be real here -- a determined shooter isn't going to be deterred by that. They will simply kill the security guard on their way in, and continue their rampage against the unarmed parishioners.

They're saying the shooter isn't Islamic either. That means he's domestic.

Our church not only has security at the entrance but most of our long term members are armed as well.

It's sad that it even has to come to that, as people SHOULD be able to feel safe in church of all places, without having to be armed.

But it's a different world we live in now... psychotropic drugs and mentally unstable people abound everywhere.

People are snapping left and right.

The shooter has been identified by the New York Times:

Two law enforcement sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the continuing investigation, identified the gunman as Devin P. Kelley, 26.

How much do you want to bet he was on a psychiatric treatment care plan, just like that other church shooter, Dylann Roof?

Some states have laws that prohibit carrying a firearm in church. Virginia was that way. Actually, you could carry in church but there had to be a specific reason.
