AMD 65... built on an Ohio Ordinance receiver. My first AMD65 build was FUGLY! I bought the air-hammer rivet attachment from JoeKen and an air hammer from walmart. It functioned, but was ugly as sin.

So I built a second one... a screw build. I don't remember who, but a member here was gracious enough to allow me to send them my trunions and they drilled/tapped them for me.

Then a buddy of mine sandblasted and painted it this custom olive brown color. She's sporting Tapco Internals, Tapco Gas Piston and in order to use the Red Bake Lite grips, I have a designated mag that has a US follower and floor plate on it (I keep a one of those big blue wide rubber bands you see on broccoli at the grocery store on the mag for easy identification).

    She also likes to "bump"

Two words on AK Builds..... "BLOODY KNUCKLES". Is it just me, or anybody who has ever built an AK up onto a receiver must have experienced this too... right?

And this is my last project, not a build per say, but a conversion.... Saiga 12:

    My First

I did an AMD-65 for my first. I bought the kit years ago when they were cheap. My 922 compliance is NDS receiver, G2 FCG, Tapco gas piston and AK-Builder muzzle brake. The brake also avoided SBR issues. I had a gunsmith blind pin it. I put an MPK2 side rail on.

It fed 150 rounds fine but the wire stock was a bit much. I didn't like the chin weld. I got an extension from AMD65 Tech and did a paracord wrap on it. I added a butt pad just for an extra inch of length.

Think this was my first build

    My first Ak build

Think this was my last build, either this or the Ak74 I can't find pics of

Damn Im getting old. An RPK was my last build. Don't have photos of it yet. Still not completely done, need to drill the two holes on the rear block to match the reciever. I used a milled kit in a stamped reciever.

Here's some pics of my first build I just finished, started with a Tapco flat, used a homemade bending brake, and a 4X aircraft rivet gun to set the rivets.

Got two more kits waiting in boxes still...

    Very nice build. Beautiful workmanship.
Do you have a pic of the rivet gun. I'm curious as to what it looks like.

Here it is, got off Ebay for 85.00, used a standard air hammer chisel tip, modified to fit a rivet.

Also in pic are the bucking bars and plate, barrel puller, and all thread. Did the entire build with no press.

Here is my latest but not the greatest, it is just a little something I threw together to try out this new lower. Not really a build more like an assembly.

This upper has a 18" BD 1x8 twist SS air gauged 5.56 chambered barrel, it has M4 feed ramps, mid gas system, with a mid length free float Tube, M4 flat top upper, 3 prong flash hider, tactical latch charging handle.
The lower is the Plum Crazy complete composite lower, I just thought I would give it a try for only $119.99 I couldn't pass it up.
I only have about 200rds through it so far & it is a good shootin' gun so far.

Keep posting pic's of your builds all of them are looking good!

I did this MP5-40, SBR, a couple weeks ago.

I have replaced the selector lever with the correct one and sent the trigger assy out to Bill Springfield for one of his very nice, H&K trigger jobs. It shoots very nice. Had to order in some spare mags... The MP5 40's and the MP510mm's have a bolt hold open set-up that works pretty well. A needed improvement. Now to build an MP5SD.

Bubba, that MP5 in .40 looks radical as hell.
.40 is probably devastating in that set up.

    My Latest.

    Vz58 in walnut.
    Very light, very tight.

    Thanks

Just glad to finally find a home where I can share ideas and receive constructive criticism when needed without an identical response throughout the forum. Recently fell into smithing as a hobby after years of mechanical/machine work, always having a passion for weapons gave me the idea to get started. This may come across as cheesy but finding a place with like minded individuals is not as easy as one might think in today's world. Before this turns into a wall of text I will leave you with my first mod(s) *WASR 10*

This is a future build "in the works" based on a Saiga in 7.62x39

The top portion of the forend will be folded forward while being seated in the channel of the gas tube (closest to the receiver) after pulling the gas block retainer forward you will be able to tilt the entire forend and gas tube forward then by sliding the gas tube backward it will be removed from the forend thus leaving the rails to retain zero at all times.

    Hope you like it.
    Drew-
