    Options for 44-40 guns.

Had a Puma 92 carbine and it sucked.

Got rid of it and have been looking for a good 44-40 rifle for awhile now.

Real winchesters are nice but go for a premium around here.

    Any suggestions?? Lever or Pump

I have more 44-40 ammo than most people have 22LR.

The Rossi brand lever guns are great.

I would agree the Rossi R92 would be your best bet for a new lever rifle chambered in .44-40. Back in the 1990's Marlin chambered a couple versions of their Model 1894 in .44-40. There was the 1894 Cowboy from 1997-1999 and the 1894 Century Limited in 1994. If you could find one of these in good shape it would make an excellent choice in my opinion.

Why your choice of a .44-40? Do you already have a handgun in that caliber?

Why not a .44 Mag or .45 LC? I have rifles and revolvers in both these calibers and love them.

Are any of the Taurus or Beretta pumps in 44-40 caliber?

The Beretta Gold and the Taurus Thunderbolt (clones of the Colt Lightning) were offered in either .38 Spl/.357 Mag or .45 Colt, never .44-40. The only pump I'm aware of currently chambered in .44-40 is the Uberti 1884 Pump Action. Another clone of the Colt Lightning. But these too are not cheap.
