Thumbs down POS keltek sub 2k

First off hello everyone I'm new here and wanted to say hello before I start asking for help. I've lurked around for a while and just joined up cuz this seams like a cool site. Anyway I bought a sub 9mm last year and my first range trip w it was very impressive. However the second trip was highly disappointing. After a couple hundred shots I noticed it was hitting to the left pretty bad. So I took it to the range guy and he was able to rotate the entire barrel about 180 degrees. I couldn't believe it. Nothing has happened to that gun. All it has done is sit in a gunsafe and only to the range twice. Does anyone know why this occured? I tried to contact kelltec w no luck. Anyone who owns this gun should check it out.

Welcome to the forum. Sorry for your pain.

My uncle has the Sub2k in .40. Other than having to replace the cheesy front sight they carbine has shot everything we have put in it. From factory FMJ to handloaded lead bullets. Accurate enough out to 75 yards off hand shooting rocks.

I'm not a fan of the other Kel-Tec products. Owning the PLR-16 and the pocket .380, neither were very accurate or reliable to trust my life with.

Tell him to grab the fsb and turn it to see if the barrel rotates. I really hope all these guns aren't made like this. Just terrible quality

We have been fairly rough on the little carbine but nothing like that.

How did you try to contact them?

I bought a used Sub2K that had FTE issues. I called and they said to send it back. Got it back a couple of weeks later in a factory box with accessories, manual and they'd replaced the bolt and bolt head. At no cost to me other than shipping it to them and they were fully aware I was not the original owner. If I had pressed the issue I probably could have gotten a call tag and had it shipped to them for free.

If I can find the Glock 9mm model that someone doesn't want an arm and a leg for when I have cash in hand, I'll have another.

I wonder if the barrel really rotated or if it was the sight rotating around the barrel. I'm just wondering because you said you twisted it by the front sight block, and the kel-tec front sight block is notoriously cheesy.

BTW, another member here had one arrive with no rifling. It was smoothbore!

I would bet it's the FSB as well. Keltec customer service also has a pretty good rep so this whole thing smells of misinformation.

The stock front sight is horrible...had to get rid of it. The Magpul works fine. And I don't keep a light on it...

Is the first gen rail or second? I read on the kel-tec owners forum that the first run had some failures.

Not sure AKT. Had it for maybe 2 or 3 years. No problems.

If you break the gun open and look where the bullet sets in the barrel then turn the fsb you can clearly see the entire barrel rotating. (Not sure of the proper term, is that the breech) anyway trust me, the entire barrel turns until the fsb is flat then it won't turn ant further.

There is a nut that holds the barrel to the receiver. Just tighten it.

I'm not sure id be too trusting of a gun that the barrel is held on by a nut. Just my preference though.

    You really can PRINTERIZE anything.
    OMG! That's Rich! LMAOSHMSFOAIDMT!

I just spewed DC onto my keyboard!

BTW, my Sub-2000 has been nothing but fun to shoot, no FTF's, no FTE's, no problemos... and the only reason(s) I bought it was #1 It folds nicely into my camping backpack or my day pack, and #2 it takes 33 round Glock mags

10#'s of crap? I hear ya, mine is all stock with the exception of installation of a smaller round forearm and a buffer... it's NOT an AR nor my "go-to" gun... its my "pack gun" when hiking in the national forest. I keep a pistol on my side regardless, but having a hi-cap carbine in the pack is nice in case I start hearing Banjo Music.
