    Question Scoping a K-31

Was thinking of selling my K-31 and started wondering about scoping it instead and keeping it. I see Brownells sells a clamp-on mount in both steel and aluminum that positions the scope on the right side of the receiver as well as a drill and tap mount that goes on the left side. I'd rather not alter my rifle so the clamp-on mounts seem like the way to go in that regard. Has anyone scoped their K-31? If so what did you use and how do/did you like it?

    TIA

This is how I'd look at scoping one. Go Sout Mount in the rear Iron sight base so no drilling and tapping and it will be centered over the bore. I have not done this to my K31, but might in the future if the eyes get much worse. http://scopemounts.com/index.html?main.html

S&K Scope Mounts is the source. Here's a link to their price page. http://scopemounts.com/index.html?main.html

Thanks for the responses. Tried the Darrel's Scout Mount on a 91/30 and didn't care for it much. Found some posts regarding the clamp on mount that Brownells sells and it seems to work quite well other than when ejecting an empty case it will sometimes hit the scope and fall into the action. For target shooting that really isn't an issue.

EDIT - looks like it is now made by Swiss Products but it seems to be the same product.

i have this mount on my K31 and i love it! yeah, it puts the scope off to the right just a bit but it's nothing one can't easily get used to. and the mount itself is completely non invasive and rock solid.

That's the one I was considering. What rings and scope are you using and what kind of accuracy are you getting?

it's got Millet rings and a cheapy Bushnell Banner 3-9x40mm scope on it. it's what i had laying around that day.

and using GP11 ammo i've grouped no larger that a quarter at 150yds. it works for me.

    YMMV

I have the same setup on my K31, do you have issues at times with brass being ejected into your noggin? If I keep the weapon in my shoulder I don't but if I move my head away from the cheek weld then I do, yes, I know "then don't move your head dummy" This is by far the most accurate surplus rifle I own!

The St. Marie mount works great. I added a strap on cheek pad that allows for the high eye to subjective lens alignment.

it's been a good while since i've fired this rifle but i do recall having my head get in the way of the hot brass.

or was it the brass in the way of my head?

oh hell, it's still one accurate son of a gun!
