Can't remember what I paid for mine, but it was less than that. Of course, this was about a year, or so, before the Obama ban on Russian imports.

I guess someone's trying to cash in on banned weapons now.

Maybe, if a Repub. is elected Pres., he'll lift that ban.

Unfortunately, I don't have such high hopes when it comes to undoing what 'Bongo has done.

Yes I remember when they were under $225 most of the time. Classic Arms out of NC would sell em dirt cheap. Wish I had purchased a half dozen of the .223 and the 12 ga. Saiga's.

This thread makes me feel old.

Yes, I remember when Saiga shotguns were only a couple hundred dollars.

    Then I started thinking.

I remember Romanian SAR series being imported and selling for under $300. True AKMs

I remember when Chinese AKs were being imported. I remember when they were selling for under $300

I remember when I could walk into my local Ace Hardware, K-mart, Sears, and many other stores, prove my age, hand them my money, and walk out with a firearm.

I remember when a dealer I knew offered me an M16 for $250 and I said no because the blackmail fee made it too expensive.

If I could only see the future.

If it makes you feel any worse at the auction today this rifle

Maadi Co – C.A.I. Model MISR S/A. Serial # CM16652. 7.62x39MM caliber semi auto rifle. 16½” barrel with a bore that should clean up fine. This is an Egyptian made copy of the Soviet AKM. The black painted military style finish is in good condition and shows some scratches and wear, especially on the folding stock. The lower handguard is laminated and the upper is solid. They both are in good condition. The pistol grip is plastic. Action works fine. Includes a Chinese made 75 (?) round drum.

sold for $950 and this rifle

Chinese – C.A.I. Model SKS. Serial # 10211297. 7.62x39MM caliber semi auto rifle. 20” barrel with an excellent bore. This rifle was made at the /26\ Jianshe Arsenal in China in 1965. This is not one of the later cheapened versions. It features a short threaded barrel lug, machined trigger guard, 1 piece gas tube, spike bayonet, side swivel on the stock, and large number font on the stock. All numbers match. It is in very good to excellent condition for what it is, Chinese military quality. Appears to have been fired very little. Includes the sling and the cleaning kit is in the stock.

    Sold for $650

And I remember the first rifle I ever bought. I walked into the store and told the
man I wanted to buy a rifle and he asked me how much money do you want to
spend? I said around a hundred and he pointed me over there. I picked through
20 or so rifles and found the 1 I liked. He said good pick and I asked how much and he
said 75 and I payed him. I walked out the door with a bolt 30-06. I was 16.
While no one ever listens to me,
I am constantly being told to be quiet.

I remember seeing the Saigas for $200-something and thinking, "I'll pick up one of those eventually, they seem like they're a dime a dozen." I eventually did pick up a Saiga 7.62x39 rifle for a couple hundred bucks. I regrettably sold it for $175 back in 2008. It was the longer-barreled version, too (20 or 21" barrel).

ETA: I found a pic of the Saiga I had. Damn, I wish I still had it. It was a nice-looking rifle and a great shooter.

The way Insane Obama is going, ALL guns are going to go up in price.

What you own now is going to be worth its weight in gold shortly. No gun is going to lose any value.

I've still got my Saiga .308 that I converted to PG config. I'm holding on to it! Got a bunch of mags for it - FBMG mags. It's incredibly accurate - it's the 16" version. I think I paid in the $300's for it.
