There have been a couple of threads about this. The Governor took this action on his own without the consent of the citizens or the state legislature. A bill as been brought forward to undo this fiasco and prevent it from happening again. We have a lot of influx of Democrats in Northern VA and the coast that work for Uncle Sam and they are starting to sway state politics to the left due to their numbers. Hopefully we can overcome this or else I will be retiring in another state.

I thought I read that it was the Attorney General who initiated all this crap, then the Governor backed it?

    Either way, it sucks.

Maine stopped reciprocity with ALL 57 states last year because they now don't require a permit to carry concealed.

The Gov in VA is anti-gun but he really can't do what he wants.
So he does this end around to get his way. obama and eo's?

It probably was the AG but I'm sure he's only doing as directed since he's of the same liberal mindset as the governor. It really pisses me off as the current AG only won with something like 147 votes over his Republican rival. The Lt. Governor and Governor weren't exactly run aways either but not that close. At least we have a Republican majority in both of our state houses. We need to get both of our Senators replaced with Republicans too but that won't happen easily or soon.

VA seems to swing back and forth. When we moved here 20+ years ago it seems like Democrats were in power but they weren't the overbearing, gungrabber Dems like today. Over the next two decades Republicans started winning more elections. The last eight or so years it's started to swing back to the left again. Most or our local guys and gals, sheriff, clerk, etc. are Republican so on a local level it's not as bad as it could be.

Not sure if this link will work but if it does you can see that the majority of VA is not liberal.

As I posted earlier, politics swing back and forth here. Unfortunately with all the additional federal jobs under Obama we have a lot more Dem voters in certain areas of the state. Some of the largest metropolitan areas like Richmond, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, etc, will always be blue as they have the highest concentrations of minorities. The one large blue county over near where I live is Montgomery and it's blue because of Virginia Tech.
