It was never apart for a good cleaning and i discovered there were deposits of white crud all through it. Must be something from the powder or priming building up. So i took it apart and gave all the parts a good cleaning. I used the Remington aerosol action cleaner, some 0000 Steel wool and i completely degreased and cleaned all the crud off. I am going to give everything a liberal coating of Remoil before re assembly.
Here is how it sits now on my workbench. After the the movie is over that my wife wants to watch i am going to get back to assembling this.
It is a post 64 that has had the wood refinished while still on the gun... By a previous owner. I will be rectifying this later in the summer. I was actually thinking of getting a black synthetic stock. I like the feel of them. The rifle is a shooter not a looker. Bore is perfect. Finish is bleh.
