Picked these up this week for a couple dollars. They aren't any good i don't think as the powder does not shake in any of them. So i pulled one... With my hands. With no effort. You can see in one pic where the powder is caked together.

If nothing else, could you pull the bullets, reload fresh powder in them, and re-crimp the bullet to the case and shoot them?
At least, you'd get one shot from them....

You sure its powder? I would be willing to bet that its cordite.
Maybe. I was thinking i would pull the bullets, dump the powder, squirt a tiny bit of WD-40 inside the cases to kill the primers and put the vintage box of ammo on my shelf next to the other junk up there.

The cordite should still be good, I've shot brit surplus loaded the same way (including the wad that gets blown to bits with every shot. )
It is cordite... I just went in my workshop and tried to dump what i thought was clumped powder after i read your comment. I banged the case on the desk a bunch of times and i got a couple rods starting to come out. Tomorrow I will take some pictures for those who might not have seen it before. These were worth the two bucks just for the learning experience i am getting... Thanks for the heads up. I am going to fire a few to see what cordite is like.

I also noticed the brass case is split right to the shoulder. Thats how i was able to pull the bullet out with my fingers.

and i thought it was damp powder because it wasn't shaking around. I can't wait to try a few of these. Smell the smoke etc. I never fired cordite round before.

can i fire one like a blank with the bullet pulled out? That paper card in there will hold everything in until it ignites no?

Amazing cordite loaded cases are still out there.
Yep, that's cordite. It will perform better if you heat it up some - like leaving it in your car trunk in the sun. Otherwise, you may get hang fires. I had some Kynoch cordite ammo (still have a box) that had hang fires. Click.... bang.
