Take a look at the Spyderco Para-military or military series... Kick Ass blades. I have a Para-military 2 and love it.
What are you going to be using it for? When you say folder are you talking locking folder or slipjoint like a standard pocket knife? Any price range or state mandated limit on blade length?

I guess I am looking for a good pocket knife or a decent sized fixed blade nothing shorter then 3in $50-200ish

That still leaves a pretty broad range with hundreds of potential choices. Check out some of these websites and see if a particular style strikes your fancy.

For value and quality I would suggest Buck, Spyderco, Kershaw, Zero Tolerance, Bark River Knives, Becker Knife and Tool, KaBar, Case, Queen Cutlery, Great Eastern Cutlery (GEC), Benchmade. Some or all of these offer something in your price range and are what I consider quality and reputable manufacturers.
You might be well served by a Buck 110 Hunter (available at any WalMart) or a standard or 3/4 Ka-Bar is just the ticket. If a particular style or type fits your fancy post a link and we can go over other, similar offerings.
A lot of what you intend to use the knife for can come into play with regards to steel thickness, edge geometry, steel type, etc. If you want to cut a lot of rope down at the shore you want an H-1 blade steel with serrations and probably a hooked profile. If you want to skin deer a drop or clip point blade with 40 degree bevel would fit that need. Office letter/carton opener would work well with a full flat grind at 30 degrees with ot without a recurve.
Knives are tools afterall and just as you could use a tack hammer to drive in a railroad spike you can use a fillet knife to baton firewood. In neither case will the task go quickly and like as not you or the tool will be the worse for wear.

Here's what I carry right now:
A Cold Steel Recon1 w/ tanto point. Sharp as hell, holds its edge well and i easy to sharpen, comfy no slip grip, and a very strong lock what will not close on your fingers.
Cold Steel lists the retail price at $119, but I got mine for around $50.
I like that ....
No ...Still looking around kinda like the strider SMF but the price is too high also like the spyderco G10 but its a bit big and not serrated and then I looked at the Kershaw black blur.
really like the one you got the other day but I decided 75-100 is all I want to spend considering Ill probably lose it anyway...

How about something like these?

Most of the above can be had with plain edge, partial or full serrations, black or uncoated blades and various colors of scales. All would provide great service, ease of sharpening and, while I hate to think of it happening, loosing one wouldn't break the back to replace.
One thing I've learned about myself over the years is when I have a good sharp knife I tend to use it more and keep track of it better than the old days when most every blade I had was dull as a rock. Couldn't use them so didn't carry them and eventually they got misplaced. HTH

Try a Ridge Runner #19 RR521. It's a tanto point blade with a seat belt cutter, window breaking point, belt clip and aluminum handles for $5.99 from BudK. Get a truckload for gifts. I'm happily surprised at the quality/price ratio.
They come in black or red handles and for more you can get the same knife with cheesy designs on the handle. I got this one because it did not have Army or Marines or a Tank on the handles or some pseudo political motto on the blade.
I only ordered it because it was in a Kennesaw catalog and didn't know it was a BudK company. I thought I was above BudK, I'm happy to say my snobbery was kicked in the balls.
The kershaw blur is a good knife. I've carried one for a few years. Its a liner lock so I don't know if you could drive it through someones skull but it opens mail just fine.
+1
I've got a couple of Blurs and they are a well made knife. Should carry mine more often then I do. IIRC you can get them with a partially serrated blade, plain edge and tanto. I've got the CMP154, S30v and ZDP-189 composite models and they all cut and hold an edge very well.
Here's an example of a plain edge Blur with S30v blade.

Sorry about the loss but glad you got it replaced. I'm considering adding these two Blurs to my collection.

Not a huge fan of the spider web design or black blades (do have a few but prefer plain) but I love 154CM as well as that lime green and carbon fiber so both offer several things I do like a lot. Actually I just ordered both of those. Couldn't resist especially since both are limited runs of 700 each.
