Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE:RGR), announced today that for the first quarter 2012, the Company has received orders for more than one million units. Therefore, the Company has temporarily suspended the acceptance of new orders.

Chief Executive Officer Michael O. Fifer made the following comments:

The Company's Retailer Programs that were offered from January 1, 2012 through February 29, 2012 were very successful and generated significant orders from retailers to independent wholesale distributors for Ruger firearms.

Your thread title scared me. I thought they had to suspend manufacturing because of some law suit or legal action. It must be great to have to suspend new orders just so you can fill the ones you already have. Can't do that for long though as people will start to look elsewhere for their firearms needs.

Let's hope they don't fall into the trap where they decide to increase mfrg capacity and take out huge loans to do so, then the need slacks off, leaving them unable to pay the debt and closing shop.

Ruger is probably America's # 1 firearm manufacturer. Their models are so popular that they are having a hard time keeping up with the orders.

I would bet that every manufacturer with "in demand" guns is experiencing a good "first quarter".

The gun and ammo run of 2012 is on. No doubt about.

If you don't have your arsenal in order, then act now or be prepared for a long drought again. Not to mention increasing prices.

Indeed, with the current state of economic affairs, this may be the last opportunity to purchase ammo at reasonable prices.

Not to sound all doomsday or anything - just saying it could be...

I wish I were "in place" so that I could order some more cases of ammo. I am fine as-is, but I'd still like some more .223 for example... but I'll be damned if I'm going to add to the already burdensome pile to move in June.

Yep, obama-messiah is good for one thing, the firearm business. While he is busy destroying the rest of the country, at least the firearm manufacturers are doing good.

IIRC back in the 90's I waited about 3 months for my Mini-14. If you want one you will wait and be pleased when it arrives

Way ahead of you, brand new equipment, double their capacity, new plant lay out. The took out 47 semi loads of obsolete and unused equipment when they upgraded.

People are buying guns and ammo in record breaking quantities. Something must be up....
Who told you to think? I don't give you enough information to think. You do what you're told, that's what you do.

Yeah we've got a gun-hating commie in the White House and there's a good chance he'll be elected to a second term in this election year.

Buy 'em while you still can.

    Thumbs up

S&W stock is up 125%, Ruger is up 117%. Gun sales as a whole are up 30%. 2011 was a banner year and 2012 will probably be even better. New gun owners, current owners adding more fiearms.........it's all good either way.
