    Questions reguarding suppressing 9mm pistols.

As I understand it, you need to shoot 147gr subsonics to prevent the "crack" sound caused when the bullet goes supersonic.

I've heard that out of the Beretta 92FS/M9 the 147gr actually goes supersonic and that it isn't all that great to suppress. Is that true?

I don't see why 147gr wouldn't be subsonic in an M9. I've never had 147gr go supersonic in my M11/9 and it's barrel length is .58" longer than the Beretta barrel.

I got the model from Bandai.

with the proper load subsonic is subsonic.

With my FBI profile UZI barrel and .45 can using 147gr handloads all you hear is the bolt and the round hitting.

The M92 is a great pistol to suppress due to the action. It isn't blowback like most firearms, so there is a delay before it cycles and that causes most of the gases and "noise" to be filtered through the suppressor instead of blasting out of the breach.

Why it wasn't my planning to suppress my XD.

ETA: And I'm sorry for the confusion; my brother and I were talking 4" .22s to suppress and I got it mixed up with the 5" inch suppressed 9s.

I run handloaded and commercial 147gr ammo in a suppressed UZI Carbine, and all you hear is the the bolt clank
