I'm currently trying to pick out accessories for a saiga 12. I've got certain items I've got my eye on, but I have questions about how well they will work or if there's something better out there.
For the muzzle device I'm looking at the JTE competition brake http://store.carolinashooterssupply....n-brake/Detail and also the poly choke II breecher http://www.saiga-12.com/proddetail.a...ke-II-BREACHER. It looks like the poly choke has a built in brake, but I don't know that it would be as effective as the JTE one. I saw a video of the JTE competition brake and it did seem very effective. However with that I no longer have the option of using a choke.
For the optic I'm considering either this bushnell red dot http://www.binoculars.com/rifle-scop...i_sku=BUP434-1 or a 512 eotech. I have a friend with the bushnell on an AR-15 and he loves it, but I'm not sure if it will survive the recoil.
For the rail system I'm looking at this quad rail from UTG: http://store.carolinashooterssupply....12-quad/Detail. I'm guessing its going to be heavy, but my real concern is whether or not it will put the optic too high up to use effectively.
For a folding stock I'm looking at the one from tapco. http://store.carolinashooterssupply....sh-B%3E/Detail. I really wanted to get one of the tromix or ace style folding stocks, but I discovered I'd have to saw off the receiver tang, install a receiver block, install a folding stock adapter, and then the actual stock. The price tag for all that could be close to 250.00, where as the tapco is only 34.00. My only concern right now with the tapco is the ability to add a check rest later (I suspect I'll want to get up higher to be able to use the optic effectively).
For the gas plug I've picked out the MD Arms 5 position plug. Not sure if its the best one but I guess I'll find out.
For the magazines I'm planning to get the 20 rnd drum magazines from MD arms, but it appears they only take 2 3/4" shells. Anyone know if there are 3" drums out there?
If anyone has any pertinent experience or thoughts I'd love to hear them. This is a pretty big out lay of cash on top of the base weapon and I'd hate to have a few hundred dollars worth of gear mistakes.
