If you see this coming up from behind it may be best if you move over.

    WTF?

Really not sure I like it much, specially the side mirrors.

Years ago I was driving on I-90 west in Ohio. ALL the cars were in the right lane and the left lane was deserted. I thought "cool - left lane, all mine!"

After cruising in "my" lane for a few minutes, I suddenly heard a roar of many, many engines (sounded like a WW-II bomber squadron). I looked behind me and saw bikers ... hundreds of bikers.

I thought "oh shit......" and put on my right turn signal... the guy to my right kindly slowed a bit and waved me in.

The bikers rode past us... I was going to try to count how many but the line was so long it was pointless. There literally were hundreds.

They were all wearing different "colors" or whatever it's called.... 6 to 10 of one group, 6 to 10 of another group... ALL of the bikes were Harleys.

    Bastards. Driving in MY lane!

Holy ugly! Those mirrors would be about useless for anything bigger than a Honda trying to back up.

I was thinking some of those looked as if they were designed by people who don;t know what the indside of a semi looks like.

It's not Peterbuilt's fault. Design students are just stupid enough to slack on research sometimes. They'll make something that looks cool without considering functionality, which is pretty much the opposite workflow of the job they are studying for.

Trying to make a semi tractor look modern and spacey? Thats like adding racing stripes and fins on a shovel..

Its a machine built for the only use of dragging freight down the road as cheaply as possible. They should be looking at reducing air drag, and making the engine compartment easier to get into... Because thats what really matters.

Paint it shiny black and it would look like a huge Darth Vader helmet hurtling down the road.

Definitely ugly, but if they keep going the way they are with all the sensors, you won't need mirrors in the future anyway.

I have to admit I think this one is kind of cool. Trucker brother would slap me for saying so but I bet he would drive it if he had the chance.

They're also not legal that way. DOT would red tag someones ass in a split second for those.

That aint no kidding. At least the first one is on par with the aerodynamics trends for design. It may stand a chance in that department but i'm betting the artist was more interested in cool looking.

Not for a living at these current fuel prices he would'nt. It would break his wallet in short order. That has the aerodynamics of a ball of silly putty wraped around a brick.

Might make an interesting semi-retro RV chassis though. If you have the money for the truck in the first place then the price of fuel and MPG average is not likely to be something you'll give a damn about anyways.

I was thinking more for a parade/display vehicle. I hate to think what the sight line is from the cab of the highway with that split windshield and long nose. It sure would catch a lot of attention at the truck stop though. You'd need a fire hose to clean up all the road debris from that scooped in front end under the front grill.

Trucker brother (James 01 on this site), would slap me silly if I told him he would have to drive that.
