    Handiest bolt guns around.

I picked this one up for $150 at a local pawn shop for a Hundo. It was completely Bubba'd, so I brought it back to life. I'd love to find some surplus ammo too.

Don't think I would call that an Abomination...

They were brought in by Interarmco, Alelxanderia, VA, and sold to retailers like Winfield Arms, Hi Hunter, Ye Old Hunter, Golden State Arms Co, LA Ordnance Depot, etc., where they sold for about $24.95 @ and surplus ammo was given with them...sometimes.

Early into the war in SE Asia the US government had Ed Stembridg, The Gun Room, Paramount Studios, LA, CA, cut down about 50 03 Springfield rifles, 30,06. to a 'jungle carbine' configuration based on the British version. They were all shipped to Laos and Viet Nam but I don't know of any of them coming back to US. (I know because I used to have lunch with Ed Strembridg and his crew every week day in the early 1960's)
