    There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me — because they want to give something back. They know they didn’t — look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something — there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there.

    You don't owe shit. Those who came before may have paved the road, but that was payed for in their generation. The vultures of .gov are not owed shit.

    That said, it is incumbent on the makers of wealth to take care of their employees, instead of use them and throw them away. If that don't change for the better, then business will get the big green weenie that is coming to them and the bastards deserve it. Back in the day this was done more often then not. Not so much today.

    Incumbent how? Morally? Sure maybe. But not to the bottom line.

    Back in the day this was done more often then not. Not so much today.
    Maybe this is true for a very brief part of our history, but hardly for the bulk of it. You got your wage and if you got hurt on the job maybe you got a small bonus before being shown the door. If you got killed on the job maybe the employer was generous enough to pay for your funeral. But mostly, if you worked you got paid, if you couldn't then you didn't.

    Could you define fair share? would that be your definition, my definition , the founders definition or some judges definition? You're silly as usual and there is no hope for you when freedom is the word. I suggest you read what the founders wrote rather than peal off Joe Bidens or the Muslim fake POTUS dummy ass quotes..... The founders never intended for us to be enslaved to the LIMITED gov't for half a year.

    I don't think they would have. Nor do I think they could have conceived of what this country would become, for good or bad. How dependent on government we have become, again for good or bad. Nor what we could possibly achieve.

    But I do think you know as well as I that "Limited government" wasn't something they even agreed on back then. There were federalists and anti-federalists.     They purely did imagine what the gov't would evolve to. On the steps after the Constitution was adopted I believe it was Jefferson that said " you have a Republic "IF YOU CAN KEEP IT". Very wise they were, though Libs will tell us they were just farmers too stupid to know that living under the King was better for them.
    Limited gov't was indeed agreed upon, Article 1 Section 8 clearly defines what the Congress can do. It's been clearly subverted by thugs in robes for the last 100 years. And don't give me the general welfare nonsense either. If Congress had the power to do anything they wanted to in the name of general welfare than why spell out the in-numerated powers in the section. They would have simply wrote Congress has the power to do anything they want. It's almost like arguing with antigunners, They'll tell you the 2nd amendment was meant for the gov't to have arms while ignoring they just got done fighting a bloody war against the gov't.....Idiotic. The founders who sacrificed and bled fighting the gov't for their independence then wrote the 2nd amendment to make sure the new gov't was expressly guaranteed the right to keep and bear arms.... DEFIES LOGIC.

    Yes section 8 says what they can do.

    The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

    To borrow Money on the credit of the United States;

    To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;

    To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization, and uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States;

    To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures;

    To provide for the Punishment of counterfeiting the Securities and current Coin of the United States;

    To establish Post Offices and post Roads;

    To promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries;

    To constitute Tribunals inferior to the supreme Court;

    To define and punish Piracies and Felonies committed on the high Seas, and Offences against the Law of Nations;

    To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water;

    Why not? It plainly says it in that section. Any 3rd grader can read it.

    Oh, also they gave the power to impeach, override a veto, appoint officers and judges, and at the time essentially elect the president.

    Odd they they have so much power, it's almost as though the people who wrote it were congressmen....

    There is an old saying "He who controls the purse strings makes the rules"...they gave themselves the power to control the purse...and the power to make the rules, and the power to raise an army, and declare war, and choose the men who run the country, etc,etc,etc.

    Oh, but there is a section on what they can't do(aside from the bill of rights), that would be section 9...it's much shorter and way less impressive.

    Obama assumes nobody did it on their own because he in fact did not accomplish anything on his own. Every step of the way, some activist or leftist extremist helped him to become this shining example of Liberty and Independance by the use of social manipulation and back room dealings. I only hope that the future will hold extinction for the actions and beliefs of such men. If you are raised to suck off the tit of society then you will foment these beliefs in the name of fairness all the while gaining a clear unfair advantage. This is social manipulation by a Tyrant, enemy of liberty, and a charlatan.

    We simply have the system we have. Either we pay for it or we do without. The question is are there enough people on a gov't pension, or who've taken part of programs like student loans, unemployment, disability or healthcare to keep the programs or will we dismantle them. I've always found it interesting most I know (I know personal experience of one person doesn't count for much) who actively campaign to get rid of these programs have often times used them the most.

Have you ever worked at a job where a mid-level clock-puncher is absolutely convinced that a company would collapse without their contribution? THAT is the person being pandered to. The person convinced that a business owner just sits back with a supermodel on each arm and new sports cars each month.....while Joe Clock Puncher carries the whole of the business on his back- in only 37 hours a week. Obama is telling these under motivated employees "I've got your back brother".

    Give the government a fixed budget and force them to live within those means.

    So everyone who works for hourly wages instead of salary is an "under-motivated employee?" Hmm... I'm trying to picture how anything would get done in this country if all the "clock punchers" stayed home and just the managers with the big fat salaries and nice bennies sitting in their office chairs all day tried to get all the work done. The phrase: "Too many Chiefs, too few Indians" comes to mind...

    i worked as a sub for the navy for years on the aegis radar system..spy1a,spy1b,i started as an indian so to speak,basic wireman/assembly,went to drexel at night to learn statistics as i upgraded to quality control.

    now i will admit in my function as q/a i ran into some engineering types that were very educated but mechanically inept.

    my father was the project manager for the aegis program,do you honestly think you,or the indians you speak of could have gone to washington,built the budget,sold the budget to the navy,did mathmatics and projections i cant fathom?
