New contender for stupidest TV show - Revolution

NBC has been showing "teasers" for what looks like the stupidest apocalypse show ever. It appears that someone figured out how to turn off all electrical power, with lights going out and cars coming to a halt.

Then they show an airliner in a flat spin. Sorry NBC, even if the aircraft lost all electrical power, laws of physics still apply to aerodynamics and the plane can still fly or glide smoothly.

Then they show people pulling out swords and a crossbow. HUH??? So firearms wouldn't work? Excuse me, what laws of physics does this stupid show think would cause firearms to stop working if electricity stopped electrifying???

Talk about a show setting a new standard in stupid.

I've seen previews for a new show called "Last Resort" that looks much better. Basically, I think its about a nuclear-armed sub that has to consider nuking Washington after the executive branch starts hunting down and destroying its own subs.

Apparently ALL power sources die, including batteries suddenly. I know an airliner can still glide but without any sort of power, do you really think the pilots can MANUALLY move the flaps or rudder on the plane? They become a DEAD STICK glider at that point. The flat spin could have been the result of a plane climbing to max altitude when All power on earth mysteriously stopped. Then it would STALL and then it would fall back down in a flat spin. Not ridiculous at all.

No some of them have BP muskets. I will WAIT until I see the show to render an opinion. they might have an answer. If the mysterious force also causes energy creating chemical reactions to fail, than most modern propellants would also fail. If ammo becomes scarce or stops working then most firearms would be just heavy paperweights. It makes sense in post apocalyptic worlds to be proficient with bows or swords since you can always replenish your weapons supplies if need be. I would say WAIT and see if the show has a clever answer. If not then, rant away. But to do so without knowing what you're talking about is jumping the gun.

I've never watched any of this pocalypse crap, not the series or any movies save for like I am legend and what was the nuclear one, damnation alley? All tripe. And you know the powers that program the tv programs all have an agenda and will spin things their way. There are better ways to waste an hour.

I do enjoy a good post apocolyptic show but this one looks to blow.

I hate unrealistic BS driven by left wing politics. And that's exactly what this looks like. There'd be guns in use everywhere in a post EMP storm world. Not to mention that not everything electric would be "killed" - anything that was shielded would still work. People are resourceful and would figure out how to generate electricity with wind power, hydro, etc. and start rebuilding.

Actually I spoke from experience when the aircraft I was flying lost all battery power. The controls were a ton but I landed safely. There was also a report of a 757 losing full electrical power on a flight across the atlantic, the pilot of that aircraft landed safely, which to this day Boeing says is a miracle.

So as a pilot, you can't see any scenario where a sudden loss of all power would make ANY aircraft go into a flat spin? Hell, I've seen aircraft go into flat spins WITHOUT the loss of all power. All they have to do is go nose up, STALL, kill the engines and then fall back down to earth. It's not an impossible scenario, though most crashes of planes that size usually slam straight into the ground, I admit it.

Not to mention what ever would nulify the chemical reactions that underlie smokeless powder, would also render black powder useless. They are both explosive chemical reactions. Only the recipie is deifferent. Also the existence of muzzle loading muskets in lieu of repeating black powder weapons (navy colt?) or even simply "black powder cartidges" makes no effing sense.

Yeah, this show sounds stupid as hell.

I believe you are thinking of the 'Dies the Fire' series of books by S.M. Stirling. Similar occurrence in which certain laws of physics no longer apply. No explosive combustion of any sort, no steam/pressure machines etc.

There is a book out there where I think they got the premise, something happens and everything electrical stops working, including guns (which again is a really hard one to explain).
