Yes. I have 3 of the earlier models and they work great. I use them at school because we don't have enough radios to go around and I got tired of having to go around and find one every time I had bus duty. Since I stared using mine, some other teachers came as asked if I had any extras. I did and let them use them, too. We've had no problems so far and have been using them for about 2 years.

A charge will last a week or longer under normal intermittent use.

If you do get one or more, make sure you get some extra batteries and chargers. I purchased some other accessories, and they work great, too.

I'm pretty impressed with mine. You can't beat the price, either.

My favorite model is the Quansheng TG-6A. It's a little more expensive, but is far superior to the Baofeng models. It can be had in VHF and UHF frequencies, too. It's sturdier in build, too.

I've found the Chinese radios to be of equal quality to any other radios on the market. Heck, most other models are made in China, now, anyway.

Their range is about 1 mile in pretty heavy obstruction and I've managed to get about 3 miles using a roof-mounted antenna in a mostly clear area with few obstructions.

I second the Alismith's opinion. They are a great bang for the buck.

When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail." ----- Jack Burton 1986
