    Price check for Newphew

He has a Remington 700 in 6mm from 1967 that he is looking to sell. I did a quick check on Gunbroker, and prices range from 700 on up. He says that it has a checkered stock on it. I know this information is kind of vague. I am waiting for him to send me more details. TIA!

He added after market floorplate, pitting on the bolt, some dents, made in September 1967.

From what I can figure out it isn't a 700 Classic because those came out in 1978. If it has a floor plate it should be a BDL since I believe the ADL did not have a floor plate. Cabelas in Wheeling had one listed with a Leupold 3x9 for $799 but don't know condition or age.

Tell him to save up and keep the rifle. 6 mm what ... Remington Magnum?

Agreed, "sporting arms" are a lot more seasonal than handguns or EBRs.

Kinda like trying to sell a motorcycle in the dead of winter, you'll get a lot more interest and a better price if you wait until spring time and a warm sunny day.

In the offseason you'll just get bargain hunters looking for a deal.

Got it, 6 mm Remington, not the 6 mm Rem Mag. Value is seriously linked to condition. How much bluing is intact, finish on the stock, etc.
