    Springfield Range Officer 9mm

This sounds interesting to me. I have a 1911 in .45 ACP that I like a lot, but carrying the ammo just for that pistol is a bother. Now, Springfield Amory has introduced a 1911 in 9mm. I know it is not the first but I am thinking more and more about it. I would get to keep my 1911 while removing one caliber of ammo that I carry around. The only negative I have is that it just seems un-American to have a 1911 not in .45 ACP.

I tried to push the envelope, but found that it was stationery.

I enjoy my RIA 1911 9mm very much, it runs lower cost steel ammo like hot butter through a sieve.

I like having .45 in my rotation. Especially for home defense, where size and weight efficiency doesn't matter.

    I'd really like an XDs-45.

    PANSY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You want a 9mm then buy a pistol in 9mm. Don't encourage "them" to molest a time honored pattern and make a woman's pistol in a man's design.

If you like it, go for it! A 1911 in 9x19 and 10mm are both on my wish list, already have a Series 80 GM in 45ACP.

Not that I want to get shot by any ammo, but that is downright scary!

I used to keep my 1911 as my home defense gun but neither my wife or daughter would shoot it. They will shoot my 9mm so I have swapped the 1911 for my Glock. I like the idea of that big ole slug but if the rest of my family will not use it, it becomes worthless if I am not home or am incapacitated.

I hate the thoughts of it.. but they make it.. and if it's what you want go for it. I have thought about it and just couldn't do it. If it's a 1911 I want it to be .45... HOWEVER... What about a Hi-Power?? Originally designed in 9mm.. and holds 13+ 1.. Another classic at least based on Brownings design. I understand he died before design was completed. Then again.. Glocks are cheaper than either and hold more.. Could get one of each I guess.. :-) You'll miss the .45 if you get rid of it I think.
