I say nice pick on the Sig rifle, not so much on the mini 30. They don't do well with Russian ammo unless they changed them in the last 4 years. Ruger uses a .308 groove diameter barrel. Real 7.62x39 is a .310" bullet. To prevent huge pressure spikes that would probably blow out primers they have a very long tapered throating in the barrels. This means the bullet moves forward a long distance before it fully engages rifling. The idea is to squeeze the .310 bullet down to .308 for the most part before it enters the barrel all the way. This allows for a lot of missalignment, tipping and as such the bullets end up being not well aligned axis of bullets to axis of the rifle bore. All that means sucky accuracy usually.

Well, they take proprietary mags of course (J&G has some on sale I think right now) - and reports are that they are more accurate than the average AK.

    I like em.

The wholesalers have them listed for $340 - pick your flavor.

Thats not to bad on the price.. looks like i got it for 10 under cost...

i dont mind the mags and from what i have seen there around 15 bucks a mage so thats not to bad
figure i like to have five mags total. one in the firearm and 4 in a mag pouch will do good.
and i like that there lighter than an AK along with having a milled reciever..
Dont get me wrong i love my AK's

    I love the Mini-30's. Here's mine.

I think the 10 rnd. mag looks the best.

I like the VZ, I don't think it's any more accurate then a good AK but it will be a sweet shooter regardless. To me they have a SKS feel to them more so then I'd compare them to an AK. It's sort of odd but they feel like to me what a SKS would of been had it matured fully into a full on assault weapon.

IMO I'd also bump up the number of mags, the mags aren't as robust as AK types and of the one's I've bought I've seen 3 out of 24 have cracked lips at the rear. While you can get them I'd get them cheap. I also think the folder is the best stock for the VZ and you did well there. My first 3 had the folders then I wanted a fixed stock just "because" and bought a forth fixed stock model. That was a mistake once I fired it. I recently bought a kit to get a folder to replace the fixed stock on that one, they sort of suck IMO....

Lastly czechpoint is a good place to find spare parts for the VZ, they are the source for parts and mags for many. I bet once you shoot it and the mini you'll like the VZ alot more.

Kinda hard to see the sks in this but as you said if it went to the full assault i could see it..
not sure about the weight of this to the sks. this feels alot lighter.

I was thinking about a scope mount but i am not sure yet.. I got the idea from czechpoint..
funny you brought that up.. i was there last night checking out all the goodies and there mags were only 18
and i really like there black grips that there out of..
