True! I have a Question for you. My Dad was Stationed at Ft. Richardson, from May 62 to May 65. I recall the Great Quake of Good Friday in May, 64. being 8 at the time. Glad to hear you survived the Quake. There is still plenty of physical evidence of it around.
There are about three types of liberals up here. The first two types have always been here. The first are old school democrats that still think it's the party of FDR and the working man. They tend to be much older as a group and blue collar. They also tend to vote republican quite a bit.
The second group are the natives that live in the villages. They vote democrap mostly due to ignorance and social programs. They actually live a pretty rugged lifestyle even today. They've bought the lie that conservatives hate minorities and are going to cut off funding for their tribal programs.
The third group are your typical doughy, city-dwellers that have been successfully indoctrinated in the socialist way. They tend to gravitate in low orbit around the university system, coffee shops, state & local govt, the media and public education. Most of them are transplants that have recently come up in the last 8 years to escape the L48 economy.
We've had an unfortunate string of mild winters in recent years, so they're tending to stick a around a little longer than they would have 20 years ago.
