Excerpted from Townhall: New IRS emails released by the House Oversight Committee show staff working for Democratic Ranking Member Elijah Cummings communicated with the IRS multiple times between 2012 and 2013 about voter fraud prevention group True the Vote. True the Vote was targeted by the IRS after applying for tax exempt status more than two years ago. Further, information shows the IRS and Cummings’ staff asked for nearly identical information from True the Vote President Catherine Engelbrecht about her organization, indicating coordination and improper sharing of confidential taxpayer information.

I read about this about a week ago. I am not ready to say it was improper because I don't think there is enough information. I do think the House Ethics committee needs to take a very close look at this and if it was improper then he needs to be disciplined. I would think that if this is found to be true he should be removed from the House for misusing his office and the IRS for political gain.

I just had a thought. A tin-hatted, conspiracy theorist thought, too. Is it possible Rep. Cummings is going to take the fall so that the investigation does not lead into the White House?

I heard Carl Levin's name dropped also in the Senate over this, just once, but then again he is retiring all of a sudden. MI Senator for 40 ys or so. Livid Jewish Lib, along with his brother who serves in Congress. Both from the grand ol Detroit area of course. Carl would always fly over here to the west side every 6 yrs, and then when the election was over we didn't exist at all. He flat out lied to the guys at the Battle Creek Air Nat guard base a few yrs back. Saved Selfridge AB for a few yrs on the east side, go figure? Cummings has sure got quiet quick on this subject though, laying low in a rabbit hole somewhere. He was supposed to be the fix it guy on the panel, Issa didn't believe one word from him, but then again he had the e-mails., this crap go's right into the WH, no doubt and Holder is up to his neck in it.

Iowa Democrat and Senate candidate Bruce Braley urged the IRS to investigate social welfare organizations before it was revealed that the agency singled out tea party and conservative groups for scrutiny, Iowa Watchdog reports.

He called the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups “shameful” in May 2013 before telling Radio Iowa a day later that the agency must “make sure that tax-exempt organizations are not engaging in inappropriate (political) activity.”
