Here you go - the second of two loads tried. The first one was just a tad over 1" at 100 yards:

100 yards, 100 degrees, wind 5-20mps left to right, bench - 3 shots:

That's .825" - third group that I shot - first was sight-ins, second the first load and this is the third - 2nd load that I tried. 225 grain bullet going about 2600-2650 fps.

Needless to say, I'm pleased with the results so far. :)

Well worth the effort.

The necks on the cases from the first load which was a lower charge, were smoked - indicating that the pressure was a bit low... as you can see here, this load (59.0 grains of W760, RP 9 1/2 primers, winchester 30-06 brass, Hornady 225 spire point) did not have that issue/indication.

Thanks guys. The scope's a "high-end" Nikon Prostaff 3x9 ;)

The scope's $140 price tag goes with the rifle's price. :coffee:

Seriously, I find the Prostaff's to be very good hunting scopes.

Nice results, Jac.
You can't beat a Stevens for the money.
I have one in 223 and love it.

Thanks. If I can figure out another caliber, I may get another one to do.

Good enough for social work. I'm kind of jealous.
