as much as I love the linked site I have a suspicion this is BS> anybody else out there think the brass plating isn't what they claim to be? I mean brass expands when heated and thus less fouling but a thin plating of brass on steel expanding as much? I am wary but so far brown bear has done right by me so I ask you out there to lend me your opinions on the Golden bear claims. any and all opinions greatly appreciated.

Doesn't make any claims about expanding, says shoots smoother. The Lacquer can be gummy and if the chamber gets dirty, stick in the chamber. The zinc plated Silver bear ammo oxidizes quickly and the white powder makes for friction and sticks cases. Brass plating should not oxidize as like the zinc and should be slicker than the lacker or zinc even before it oxidizes.

Low powered steel cased ammo soots up a chamber bad. Get a good powder charge in the ammo and the steel should expand well to seal the chamber. The brass would assit in extraction because of the slickness of the brass plating IMO. Is it worth a super premium in cost, IMO no it isn't.

im with schuetz. yes, it does make a difference, and is better, but no, not that much better to justify the price difference.

Yes it was, made me think he was asking about it relative to AR15 weapons. For an 7.62x39 AK, definitely not worth paying the premium for.

well I asked as the Idea of plating brass on steel cartridge casings was a new one to me.. I thank each and every one of you who take the time to answer my inane questions but..well this isn't the first time I couldn't convey my intended message. at any rate I should have considered the caliber.be it FAL or AK I doubt the lacquered casings will cause me any problems.
