May I suggest Primary Arms? They have Aimpoint clones that work well and they also have their own. They are backed up with a warranty and great customer service.

I use a Bushnell TRS-25 on a Texas Weapons dog leg rail.

I get a hard cheek weld on an AK using an optic- I almost prefer it to my AR carbine.

If I could afford an Aimpoint Micro for my AK I would prefer it to my AR.

Thanks for the aimpoint clone info, I think this is the way I will go.

By the way I like your quote, very true.

Good suggestions all round.

I use a widely scuffed at BSA 30mm red dot. Others have had problems with POI changing, but I guess I got lucky and got a good one.
I have it atop of my AK Zombie killer on a Chinese smooth top cover that I added part of a AR A2 rear sight and a 6" steel Picatinny rail.
I secured the top cover so there is NO movement what so ever.

Which way did you go and how did it work out for you? Been looking at EOtechs, but you hate to drop 5 bills and hate it....

I am interested in this one, although I have no experience with it and cannot recommend it. If someone picks one up, please review it for us.

What intrigues me about the holograph type is that they claim the red dot stays where the barrel is aimed even if your eye is not lined up perfectly, which is not the case with the standard reflex red dots I've tried... the dot moves as your eye does even if the barrel stays at target. Not sure if that is exaggerated hype or not ???

I have been looking into a way to put a red dot on my AK underfolder and did look into getting a new receiver cover with mount but have heard they don't stay zero. I was wondering if you have had any problems with mounting yours on the receiver cover?

+1 for the Bushnell TRS. Uses common cr2032 3v batts and has a good battery life.

The only think I didn't like about my vortex is the goofy battery and the placement of the on/off switch. Otherwise, good sight with great customer service.

Did you epoxy, drill and tap, or what to attach the rail?

Hi, I have a cover-mount weaver rail system, I'll be taking it out this weekend. I'll be sure to let you know how it stays on tgt, but if I forget, send me a message. I went for el-cheapo system, because I wanted to get a rail, and this package seemed the best deal:

http://www.jgsales.com/product_info.php/optics%2C-sights%2C-rings-bases/scope-mount-sets/p/ak-scope-mount-combo-/cPath/203_212/products_id/422

But like I said, I haven't taken it out yet. I'm going shooting on Sunday, so I'll be sure to come back and tell you how it performs. The stabilization bolts at the spring release really seem to keep it solid and prevent rocking.
