That's what Douk-Douk means in Polynesian.

Ordered the large model this morning.

Read about these a long time ago but never ordered one, basically because I only knew of sources overseas and with the weak dollar and international shipping they were fairly expensive.

Heard about Garret Wade and figured I'd give it a shot.

Hmm, those Russian sheath knives look good.

I saw those. The top one (more than the bottom one) reminds me of a Pukko design. Also like the little New Zealand "Peasant knives" (simply and rustic) as well as the "Country style folder". That carbon steel would look great with a patina from everyday use. Not a big fan of forced patinas though you can get some pretty intersting patterns with the various mustards, ketchups and mayo.

For some reason the link timed out. You can open the main page and just click on "knives".

Nice, I used to get their catalog when I was buying a lot of woodworking tools but got away from the buying and the catalog quit coming.

Sharp looking knife but this one caught my eye for a car knife. Make a good blade for a bug out bag too.

Been considering two different "Razels" from CRKT. That kind of looks like the larger of the two I was thinking about. The other has a ring on the end of the handle.

Did you also notice the Japanese Hatchets? Similar blade profile but with wood handles.

That a pretty good blade Grump? I been eyeballing them for a while now.

The top one is closer to a Sammi Leuko.

Since the Sammi are in the very far North of Finland, around Lapland IIRC but I don't think they are considered Laplanders. I could be wrong about that part though.

I like this knife! Very, very basic design with folded steel handle. Half stop blade (that means when you open or close the blade it stops halfway then you move on to full open or close). Came fairly sharp but after a few minutes on my Sharpmaker it shaves quite nicely.

Overall just a nice, inexpensive little knife. I'll carry it the rest of the week and see how it works out. May get the smaller one too. These would make a great gift but someone with hand strength issues might not be the best person to give one to. It does take a little hand strength.
