Anyone else watching this? Might be pretty decent.

I am. But I wish there had been more of a back story involved, prior to the resistance. Sort of an Independence Day type scenario where they don't win, then the resistance begins in earnest. I think I'd be more interested in the characters had they started the series that way.

That's it. I was trying to figure out why I was feeling kind of ho-hum about it. So far, just action, but no "feel" for the characters. A lack of history is the reason. Hopefully, it'll build up the characters in the next few episodes.

I'm, also, a little skeptical about how they got all those guns in MA. I, seriously, doubt the National Guard Armories stockpile all those different types of guns. After all, we're talking MA here.

Oh well, the jury's still out. Hope it gets better.

DVRing it, so I'll chime in after. They may start doing back stories as they go along (LOST, Pulp Fiction, etc). That seems to be the way of things now....

Watched it, liked it. I too would like to see some back story to flesh out the characters and fill in the invasion start. Seeing previews at the end of it, I don't think they do any of that any time soon.

Even Walking Dead gave you at least a bit of back story (though not much). A period where the world is normal before all hell breaks loose. It at least gives you something to "bank" on as far as the main characters go. It seems the new paradigm in hollyweird is to just thrust you into the story, as if action is all that matters, characterization is secondary...and you're just supposed to like it. I blame reality TV for this trend...characters you no nothing about thrust in a manufactured reality, where the reality is your point of suspension of disbelief. Hollyweird seems to have forgotten you have to care about characters to suspend disbelief and actually care about what happens to them.

With the continuing degradation of public intellect assumed by hollyweird, thrust into the action without backstory, much like a porno, is order of the day.

I wonder if they'll ever make a movie about America being betrayed by its politicians, and the citizens having to defend themselves?

Watched all two hours last night and thought it was OK. Obviously the unit "commander" doesn't hold the civilians in high regard as per his "housing arrangements" which I thought was weird. Why put one "fighter" in a bedroom and have everyone else in tents? People could sleep on the floor.

Would be a lot easier to guard everyone and get moving if they weren't in tents 200 yards away, plus in a house your out of sight. Unecessary expsosure to the elements also leads to more sick folks which puts a further drag on the whole group.

Except for some plot issues as others have described I enjoyed trying to identify the various firearms and blades used. Did anyone else notice the guy with the M240 over his shoulder? Looked to me that he had a belt of blank rounds.

Also in the one supply depot scene the "teacher" seemed to fire an awful lot of rounds out of his AK without reloading. They also seem to have an aversion to actually shouldering the weapon and taking aim. Also didn't notice much in the way of hunting type firearms or any SKS though I did notice the bad gun had the obligatory SA revolver.

I'll be checking it out again next week. Sure wish The Walking Dead would start it's next season though. So far I'd day it's the better of the two.

Watched it this morning. I have to say that I liked it. I like the fact that a 13 year old is carrying an M4, thus showing that in that type of situation, everyone matters in defense. There are obvious Hollywierd goofs, and lack of reality. But Dale Dye is doing the consulting on the show, so it theoretically should be decent.

As for the back-story, I'm OK with them starting where they've started. In reality, would one episode be enough to develop things enough? Think about it. There have been two seasons of "V" developing the story, and explaining the characters - and they still NEVER got to the resistance!!!! I do believe the show has been cancelled, because people wanna see us fighting aliens!!! LOL!!! :D

Independence Day never really developed the characters. Battle Los Angeles dropped you right into the invasion...

What I'm saying is, I'm OK with where we are on the show. As long as they keep fighting, and having good sub-plots, I'll keep watching! ;)

I saw it last night.

I may have to wait until it comes out on Netflix or hulu... too damned many comercials - drove me batty! 5 mins of show and 10 mins of commercials.

Now I remember why I only watch stuff on cable, etc.

I watched Firefly on Netflix - was really nice to sit down and watch 40 mins. of show with interuptions.
