Got my plum crazy lower last week. I tried to take a picture of it to post, but the batteries are dead in my wife's camera. :loser: I am still waiting on my Del-ton upper. If I ever get it all together I'll post pictures and a range report.

I keep hearing about these Plumb Crazy receivers - would like to see some pics.

I used Stag lowers for my del-ton assemblages.

Remember to use the bag trick when installing the detants and such - anything with small springs that can escape - cause they will try, mark my words! :)

How much do these lowers weigh? I would not mind having a super light weight upper to go with one of these.

I did an image search... and this is the first thing that came up...

I'm seeing these for $65 - which is a great price. I think I'll just stick with a CMMG or Stag forged aluminum lower for $100 or so.

Thanks for the tip. Here is a picture of it. Sorry for the quality, but wifey is the photog.

I put it on my kitchen scale and it weighs right at 1 lb 10 oz.

Yeah no telling how that happened. My complete was very reasonably priced.

If you look at the link, there's another gory picture of one that snapped in the back... but read down and you get some comments about vices and wrong springs, etc... I guess you just have to be more careful with handling these.

And I see you got the complete lower - so no worries about springs going hither and yon.

Looking forward to the range reports...

Low temperature impact strength of polymer can be half that of what it is at 80 °F. Though I make my living molding plastic into parts, I'll take aluminum and steel thank you very much.

Define low temperature. I live in Florida. To me low temp is 60 degrees.

Son called me today and said he had a surprise for me and was coming by. A friend of his let him borrow an upper. Looks sweet. Now I can't wait for our two uppers to show up from Del-Ton.

Below 45°F. The lower the temperature the greater the reduction in impact strength. Living in FL you're not going to see 30, 20, 10 or Zero and bleow but somebody in MI, MN, Montana, Idaho just to name a few could. Even here in GA freezing temperatures and sub 40 degrees are plenty common enough once we get to December.

I bought one for giggles when I saw the price. Plus they are made in AZ. They do cut down on the weight right now I have a 20 inch upper on it and could not be happier with the preformance. I had it at the range two weekends ago when it hit 112 degrees I had no problems with had about 300 rounds of wolf threw it. I still love the all metal lowers but for shits and giggles and what only out $120 for a complete lower that worked great plus a lifetime warranty.

I wonder how it would hold up up here on a January 0* day with 45mph winds

from my experience with car bumper covers (also made from plastics) in cold weather... not well i would say. they always split and crack in the winter. as opposed to bend and flex in the summer.

It would be ok unless you whacked the barrel on something smartly. IMO these are for range queen weapons ONLY.

Well, we put about 200 rounds though it so far with no problems whatsoever. I'll try to post pics soon. By the way, how many rounds of .223 do you think a .50 bmg is equal to?

Have to agree with OSOK on this. I remembered his writing this, and it also said it in the assembly instructions that 10-32 sent me, and after launching the spring into the bag a couple of times I was very glad I listened!

While I understand that the lower doesn't really take any of the punishment, I still don't think that is a smart thing to do.
