I have been thinking about buying a 22 lr for awhile now.
I'm drawn to the Savage Mark II FV because I once owned a 93R17 FV. It was an extremely accurate rifle.
Urges require money and since I'm not working since my cancer operation, the urge is running me nuts.
I'm thinking of selling my AK to purchase the Savage, but I'm not really sure about doing this.

Anyway, I'd like your opinion on this rifle.

I have one, I used it as a trainer for my 700. I threw a 20MOA EGW base on it, bipod and Tasco scope. I can whack targets all day at 200yds. I've don't have anywhere to shoot further but I'm sure I could make it to 400. Very accurate gun. Going to have it threaded for a suppressor, soon.

Yeah, I'm thinking it's as accurate as the 17 within reason.

Thanks for the reply.

The only negative I can think of is the lack of aftermarket stocks that are available. I'd really like to get a stock that is similar to my 700. That's only a negative though if you're looking to replicate your sniper platform for practice.

Savage offers a couple wood stocks for the Mk II.

Yeah, my buddy bought his with the wood thumbhole stock. I'm looking for a fiberglass stock along the lines of this:

That would be great. Good luck finding one.

Yeah, no kidding. There's a few companies that are supposedly working on it. With the popularity of this rifle, I can't imagine someone won't produce one. If you haunt any of the sniper forums, everybody and their mother is using the MKII. At least all the guys that don't have the budget for a Remington 40X or Anschutz.
