With his trusty revolver on his hip, he always told me he didn't trust automatics :) My son and I were going through some old pictures and found this, I remember looking at it when I was just a lad...

My dad didn't show me his pictures from korea until i was almost 16. He and my mom tried to adopt an orphaned korean kid, but ended up with me instead :).
He managed to immigrate to the states about ten years after the war and stayed in touch with my parents. I met him when i was in my 30s, hell of a guy, i wished we could have been raised as brothers.

What kind of revolver is that?

I would guess a 38 S&W

O.S.O.K.

My folks have some pics of my Dad in Korea too - he was a staff Sgt- Air Force - he basically took care of the base radar equipment.

He might look like a skinny kid but he was Army Airborne and pretty tough, he was mortared, shot, bayoneted, blinded in one eye (ended up getting some of his sight back in it) and burned over 30% of his body before it was all said and done.

Then he came home and made me :)
